Hog Roast

There's something a bit primal about hog roasts; whole beasts or lumps of beast slow-cooked to perfection, and eaten with your fingers with nothing more than wads of bread to soak up the juices and a few accompaniments to gild the lily. We use Wessex breed Pork, which has just the right ammount of fat to keep the meat moist and tender and give a wonderful crackling, and the meat itself has a fantastic flavour; "just like pork used to taste".
To work out the cost of your particular package we use the highly scientific method of "bap counting".
Whole hogs aside, all roasts are available in a forty bap package as a minimum, but if you need to feed more guests simply add the appropriate extra cost per person to the forty bap package.
All roasts are available at the Blue Ball Inn, in the garden weather permitting, or in the pub itself all year round, subject to availability. Or we can deliver and serve within a 10 mile radius at no extra cost. Please add 50p per mile over that. All packages include disposeable plates and napkins.

The Whole Hog

The Diy Hog

The DIY hog will be slow-roasted on the day you need it then sliced, packaged into large foil containers and delivered along with the accompaniments for you to dish up yourself.

The Diy Pulled Hog

Boneless, roast shoulders of hog
Barbecue relish, 5" soft floured baps, fennel and celeriac slaw
The DIY pulled hog will be brined overnight then slow-roasted, rubbed with a sticky barbecue glaze (mild, medium or hot), re-roasted, pulled, packaged into large foil containers and delivered along with the accompaniments for you to dish up yourself.

Ox Roast

Devon Ruby Red beef, grass-reared on local farms. Whisper it quietly lest the "experts" get upperty, but this beef tastes every bit as good as Aberdeen Angus.

Shoulder

Boneless shoulder-chuck, brined and cooked "slow and low" until meltingly tender, rubbed with a blend of spices (mild, medium, or hot), re-roasted with a sticky glaze then "pulled" rather than sliced.

Sirloin

Boneless sirloin, the daddy of beef joints.
For best results we roast our sirloins on the medium-rare side of medium, but we can cook it as per your preference.

Desserts and pastries

For off-site events
Two members of staff will arrive 1 hour before serving time to set up, and carve and serve for two hours. If you would like the roasts served over a longer period each member of staff will cost �15 per hour. This must be arranged in advance.
We will require access to an electricity point for our hotplate.

Payment Terms
On placing your order, a 25% deposit will be required to secure the booking. The balance in full must be paid 30 days prior to the event. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or debit card. We also accept credit card payments but 3% will be added to the total cost to cover bank charges.
We do not accept American Express payments.

Cancellations
If cancellation is made over 60 days prior to the event a full refund will be made less £35.00 to cover administration costs. For cancellations 30-60 days prior to the event, a full refund will be given less the 25% deposit. Refunds cannot be given for orders cancelled within 30 days of the event.

For your peace of mind
All of our staff hold food hygiene certificates, and the temperature of hot food will be monitored and logged to ensure its safety for the duration of cooking, transport and service.
